FIRC Training Day & Info Hunt

TRAINING DAY

INTRODUCTION
The Activities and Training Department propose a training program for FIRC members to train them about the systems that being used in IRC. The main reason is that all the FIRC members need to know and how to use the systems in order to help the other students whenever they need assistance regarding the systems in IRC.

OBJECTIVES
1. The main purpose is to let the FIRC members know about the systems that are being used in IRC.
2. To teach the FIRC members how to use and apply the system.
3. To make sure the FIRC members aware about the main places in IRC.

Date : 6th January 2009
Time : 9.30am until 5.30pm
Location : 2 Labs at block 1

OUTCOME
The training session is a vital part in this organization. The university concern about ways students finding the source of information. Millions of ringgit has been spend to make sure that students are using valid and reliable information. Now, IRC staffs have taken intense measure to educate students with the knowledge. We hope that starting with us, the training session will give sufficient information on using the database system:
1. FIRC members can help the IRC staffs in teaching other students about the database system that are being used in IRC.
2. Implement skills of finding valid and reliable information to the FIRC members.
3. Learning all of the functions and areas inside the IRC.
4. FIRC members can use the skills and knowledge for future planning. (EG: conduct tour inside IRC for the new intake students.)



INFO HUNT

INTRODUCTION
The Activities and Training Department propose a competition named Info-Hunt. This competition allows the FIRC members to apply the skill and knowledge that they gain from the training session. Info-Hunt is a competition that needs the participant skill in finding sources and information in IRC.

OBJECTIVES
1. The main purpose is to implement all of the knowledge that we gain throughout the training session and IRC tour.
2. To build strong cooperation between FIRC members.
3. To appreciate full commitment by FIRC members.

OUTCOME
In implementing the knowledge that we gain, the members of this organization know how to search for information in terms of book and internet sources. They also can handle situation and time given to them to accomplish their task. This will improve their capability of gaining knowledge using various resources:
1. Gain experience that will be use in future plan of the organization.
2. Firsthand experience in getting books or information inside IRC using the available tools such as OPACS and electronic database.
